At Old School Fitness, we offer a wide variety of programming in the Martial Arts. Aikido, TaeKwon Do, Self Defense, and Pekiti-Tirsia.
Pekiti-Tirsia is an attack system of combat proven strategy, tactics and techniques executed through the principle of offense, counter-offense, and “recounter”-offense.
Training will provide students with clear and concise knowledge, understanding, and skills in fighting and its application with all edges/impact/empty-hand weapons. Learn the keys to applying effective combat technique through the Pekiti-Tirsia system.
A true, authentic family system of Filipino martial arts, tested and proven through generations of combat and utilized now by the elite Philippine Force Recon Marines, and numerous other Military/Law Enforcement and Private Security groups around the world. Pekiti-Tirsia is the only system recognized by the Philippine government used to train Force Recon Marine Battalions of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and the Special Action Force (SAF) contingent of the Philippine National Police.
All fighting ranges are integral parts of the Pekiti-Tirsia system, but special attention is given to the close-quarter fighting. Pekiti-Tirsia is about quartering the opponent, or ‘cutting up into little pieces’ total destruction with counter offense while not getting hit Pekiti-Tirsia is a true martial art to defend yourself, or family. It is not a sport.
The Pekiti-Tirsia methodology originates from offensive and counter offensive principles against attacks from all ranges, angles and threat levels. there are no separate or specific defensive techniques as such, as the Pekiti-Tirsia man is always seeking ways to end the conflict.
This martial art fighting style is currently experiencing a rise in popularity because: a loose version of the fighting style is used by Matt Damon in the Jason Bourne series of films, and The History Channel’s Human Weapon and The Discovery Channel’s Fight Quest documentaries on the art of Pekiti-Tirsia.
Our Instructor, Rob Walker, trains directly under GrandTuhon Leo Gaje, Jr. Rob trains annually in the Philippines, as well as training/hosting GrandTuhon Gaje while he is in the United States.

What is Aikido?
Aikido is a traditional Japanese martial art created in the early 20th century by Morihei Ueshiba and the art form teaches self defense in a unique way. An Aikido practioner ( Aikidoka ) will blend or harmonize with an attack & use dynamic circular movements to unbalance the attacker. Then, rather than using potentially crippling kicks or punches, the Aikidoka can apply an endless variety of joint-locks, pins or unbalancing throws to render an attacker harmless without causing serios injury.
The name Aikido is composed of three Japanese characters:
Ai - meaning harmony
Ki - Spirit or energy
Do - Path or way.
Aikido is The Way of Spiritual Harmony. Aikido teaches you to be flexible, fluid and centered in any situation and to move spontaneously within its principles. An Aikidoka learns to unite body, mind & spirit.
